We want to publish your book! Before moving to the next step, authors aged 17 and under must have consent of a parent or guardian.
Please send us, your name, e-mail, name of the book and a query. We will evaluate this application and contact you with more instructions on how we can help publish your book. Be sure to read the Publishing Agreement. In all cases, Shared Pen has no claim to any revenue you may ultimately generate through publication through a mainstream publisher, movie rights, etc. This is your chance to begin to reach an audience, so we encourage you to put your best product forward by making sure that your book has been thoroughly proofread and edited. Shared Pen will not be performing any editing, other than some formatting for appearance. To publish your book, we need to convert your manuscript into standard book and e-book formats that can then be read on the reader’s platform of choice (PC, Mac, iPhone, BlackBerry, iPad, Kindle, Nook, etc.) or submitted for printing. We encourage you to send us your file in Microsoft Word format (.doc and .docx). We can also accept .rtf files produced in other word processors. You, as the author, will be able to buy a draft copy of the book at printing cost to make changes. This process can be done as many times as you like. Once your book has been converted and posted to the various locations for sale, we will send you a publication announcement that can be shared with your friends and family. You automatically receive copyright protection when your work is created. But there are advantages to registering your copyright with the government Copyright Office. If you wish to do that before you self-publish, please visit www.copyright.gov. As of this writing (2/4/10) the Copyright Office’s fee for this is $35. |
